What is a K1 visa? It is a particular visa granted to the beneficiary (non U.S. citizen) of the petitioner (U.S. citizen) in which the two must get married within 90 days of the beneficiary’s arrival to the United States. Having been through this extraordinary journey with my wife, I can tell you there is a lot of stress, time and money that go into filling out and filing the necessary paperwork. Any one wrong piece of information can cause delays that can last months and cost you even more money. Some people hire attorneys while others choose to proceed on their own. It is quite the ordeal.
One unexpected gift was stumbling upon a community of other couples who had to jump through the same hoops we had to in order to finally be together – The K1 Experience. We’ve met other Filipinas, Columbians, Brazillians, Eqyptians, Mexicans, Domincans, Belizeans, Swedish, Polish and I’m sure other ones that aren’t coming to mind. We’ve heard so many fascinating stories from these other couples and one day I thought, ‘I love to talk and these stories interest me because I relate. Why don’t I just do a podcast and have these people on as guestss so they can share their experiences too?’ I figured since so many people found our love journey just as interesting as we found theirs, that would be what we’d talk about.

I called my podcast The K1 Experience because really, there is nothing else like it. After spending thousands of dollars and a countless amount of hours processing paperwork, consulate interviews and required travel before finally getting approval, you’re finally on your way to the altar. Together at last. Now I want to hear your stories. What were some of the challenges you faced as a couple? If you are interested in sharing your very own K1 Experience on the podcast, shoot me an email at email@example.com.
All are encouraged to apply regardless of religion, race, sexual orientation, age or circumstances of your relationship. Everyone is welcome and I can’t wait to connect with you!
